Why I Went Chemical Free

About seven months ago I decided to rid my life of toxic chemicals in pursuit of healing myself of hormonal imbalances such as ovarian cysts, chronic fatigue, and anxiety. Now let me tell you, I haven’t regretted it for a second. But I will be the first to admit it was far more difficult than expected to rid my life of all of my Naked Palettes, Better Than Sex mascara, and more simple things like my beloved Joico shampoo and conditioner regimen. But with some huge changes, I have now been seven months without any cysts, lots of energy, and astronomically low anxiety (just ask my sisters).

Cute and Comfy? Challenge Accepted. Meet Your Next Plane Outfit.

Yo. Liv here. Here's the deal. I love flying with my whole heart. But also, simultaneously hate flying with my whole heart. It's very stressful (but no one gets as stressed as Haley), but super convenient. It's also always hard to find an outfit that makes you feel good but is still comfy. Here's my go to outfit for flights.

Music to Make You Feel Good

Sometimes things just suck. Sometimes, days seem slow or weird. Sometimes they're just bad days, and that’s okay. But we also have to know how to move on and know that things will get better. Sometimes all it takes is someone to remind us who we are and what we are capable of. So here are some songs that will make you feel awesome.

The Nike Method for Creatives

I remember when my family and I started our first business together, we labored over other brands’ logos and taglines. One of the top on our list was Nike for obvious reasons. They seemed to have hit the branding jackpot. An amazingly simple logo and tagline essentially has transformed a generation of clothing and athletics. Because I’m a lover of words, “just do it” makes my heart do a little pitter-patter. Three words and so much power, guys.

How to Get Rid of the Stink

Switching to all-natural deodorant can be quite the adventure. It brings the ever so pleasant wave of nauseating pubescent like smells back to your life again. I used to never wear deodorant when I was on birth control. Y’all may think that’s gross but it is so freeing to not have to deal with an extra step. However, once I let my hormones run absolutely wild I had a nice musky smell with or without deodorant. It’s hard to imagine I’m single, I know. I mean who doesn’t love a good musky smell at any given point of the day? Yikes.

Happy Spring!

In honor of the first day of spring, I’m going to unleash all of my feelings about flowers. So, let me just tell you, flowers are the most beautiful things in the entire world. I am absolutely in love with them—not necessarily like flowery patterns or anything but like actual, real life flowers growing in the ground. They make my heart genuinely happy, and that’s a lot coming from me. Summer and I were talking the other day about a flower truck that she knows of in Nashville. It literally functions like a food truck, but with flowers. Is that not the most amazing thing you’ve ever heard??? I’m going to be totally real right now and just tell you that there were legitimate tears in my eyes when she told me about it. Like, I was literally ready to cry just thinking about this flower truck.

How Music Changed My Life

have never been one to easily talk about my feelings. As a matter of fact, I absolutely hate talking about myself (so you can imagine how weird writing this is for me). I’ve always been a pretty private person and I’ve (for the most part) been comfortable with that. Music has helped me come out of my shell a little bit, with this whole talking about my feelings thing. It’s given me a way to express myself without actually having to truly articulate my emotions. So, if you’re wondering, “Who is Liv?”

Harnessing Creativity in a Rut

I am perpetually bad about succumbing to a rut (just like I am kind of bad at quitting things). Ruts frustrate me. They make me angry. And perhaps other disciplines and industries have ruts, too, but I think creative ruts are particularly painful because of the way in which creatives identify with their creations. Famous poets often refer to their poems as their children. Authors are sad when their characters die. I am afraid of ruts -- which leads to anger -- because it makes me worried that one day I will no longer be able to string words together in a meaningful way. One day, the rut will stay forever and I will never have a good idea ever again.
